      LMs,
Contemplating whether permanent fixing of the trim to the cockpit is advisable or installing riv-nuts in same and fastening with 10-24 screws through the bottom side of the body shell. Advantage, removable should I wish to repaint some day. Disadvantage, would seem to create “bump” in padding under leather. Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

That is close to what the riv-nut would achieve but not as deep a protrusion into the padding side. May steal your idea.

I used M4 rivnuts, one per side. Sorry for the tunnel not the roll.

Came up with something shallower than riv-nuts or the flange nuts–t-nuts. The “hole” is the threaded part. I took 1/4 10s and cut them down to 3/16 so they bare protrude through the fiberglass roll. Trimmed leather around them so they sit flush with the leather glued underneath. Then epoxied them in in.
